I used to think that H&M was perched atop the pinnacle of ultimate affordable fashion awesomeness. Well, this belief was joyously confirmed for me in my recent discovery that Lanvin has agreed to collaborate with H&M THIS FALL. As of now, there are only a couple sneak-peaks of the collection available to the public (above and below); however, in a unique twist, a special video will be released on the H&M website on November 2nd featuring more tantalizing previews, before the line in its entirety appears in stores around the world on November 23rd. Just in time for your Christmas list—brilliant! And likely also strategically timed to occur shortly after the October 6 opening of H&M’s new flagship store on the Champs-Elysees.
Honestly I am so psyched for the H&M/Lanvin…love-child, shall we say? H&M has partnered in the past with big-name brands like Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Sonia Rykiel, and Comme des Garcons, all with amazing results, but Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz has truly transformed the label since joining the team in 2001. His work has single-handedly pioneered major trends over the past decade, including ribbon, pearls, and bows, not to mention his raw metallic embellishments and masterful use of cloth. Are you drooling yet?
Perhaps what’s most exciting about this collaboration is that Lanvin is not mass-marketing; rather, it’s loaning a little of Elbaz’s genius to the mix—H&M is going luxury. Mark your calendars.
