textual healing

At last—I am returning from my winter sabbatical! I don’t have a good excuse for my absence, but recently, inspiration has been coming at me from all directions and it’s more work to stay away than to share.

If you’re anything like me, you’re weary of the expected seasonal nail polish trends. Between Christmas and Valentine’s Day, scarlet hues are feeling a little tired, and it’s not quite time for bright spring shades. As a lover of all things textual, I was thrilled to come across this beyond-brilliant nail art. Try using newspaper in a foreign language for an added effect.

–a small glass of rubbing alcohol or vodka

–10 strips of newspaper (bigger than your nails)

–light-colored nailpolish (I recommend clear, pale pink, or a milky white)

1. Soak your nails in the alcohol (make sure they are completely submerged).

2. Firmly press a strip of newspaper on the nail and hold for 30 seconds—it is important not to move at all.

3. Apply a couple clear protective coats to ensure the text lasts.
