I love a glam brand name as much as the next girl, but when it comes to personalizing my look AND supporting local businesses, there’s only one place to go: the local vintage boutique. Sure, some of it comes with a museum price-tag, but there are also great deals to be had, plus incredibly unique pieces. I recently checked out the vintage shops on U Street NW in downtown D.C. and was blown away by some truly incredible merch–cat-eye sunglasses straight off Audrey Hepburn’s face, denim dating back to the Great Depression, a 1982 Iditarod champion t-shirt, and men’s old neckties-gone-sophisticated, to name a few! I also discovered that if, like me, you have tiny fingers that NEVER fit all those cute chunky rings, the solution is mid-century antique jewelry! Women had smaller hands back then, and dainty cameo rings could definitely find a place in my collection.
