Summer used to mean I turned to my seasonal uniform: bathing suit, a worn-in pair of jean shorts, and a glowing tan. I miss those days, since now my summer uniform is basically a continuation of what I wear year-round–tailored pants, a blazer, and perpetual paleness. I may not have the luxury of a natural beach-side bronze, but I am switching gears to a simple skin regimen and an unfussy makeup strategy, punctuated with pops of color. The lineup consists of just a couple swipes of brown-black mascara (a relaxed, earthy alternative to my traditional & all-business “very black”), some tinted powder from my new feathery-soft kabuki brush, and bright colors on lips and nails. I love this fierce shade of Heat Wave from NARS, and OPI delivers sea-green that makes me think of shallow waves on a tropical beach. Sometimes the summer experience requires a little creativity.
Great picks! I am obsessed with that Nars liptick in Schiap – the brightest hot pink. This makes me want to get the Heat Wave too!
Oh that NARS lipcolor looks really good on you! I
Thank you!! I love the way it goes on–and it stays put for hours without getting dried out like alcohol-based lip color.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that Nars Lipstick! Fantastic color and perfect for summer! I thought of you this weekend when I went to Old Lucketts Spring Market. Next time, you’ll have to come with me. I just posted some pictures from the market, too. http://vibrantgrace.com/2011/05/old-lucketts/
